Governor’s Charitable Giving Challenge Begins August 1
The Nebraska State Employees Charitable Giving Campaign is the State’s official workplace giving campaign. It provides us a meaningful and convenient way to give back to our local communities by donating to over 400 charitable organizations state-wide.
The State Employee Charitable Giving Campaign is an important campaign to our Nebraska communities. The dollars raised by this campaign stay in Nebraska and have immediate impact on the lives of our family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Currently, charitable donations are being used to assist our recent flood and storm victims in Nebraska; provide on-going support to those suffering from chronic illnesses; and, provide resources for organizations that encourage learning and creativity for Nebraska’s youth.
Since 2003, the Nebraska State Employees Charitable Giving Campaign has raised over $2.5 million dollars. Last year, our campaign raised over $424,000 and had approximately 3,415 participants.
Congratulations Nebraska State Employees! For the past two years, the Nebraska State Employee Charitable Giving Campaign has been recognized for both its leadership giving and as the number one overall campaign for the Lincoln and Lancaster County United Way. A tremendous example of how State employees continue to serve the public beyond their jobs.
Let’s…..Play Ball!
This year, the Governor has again challenged members of his Cabinet to a friendly competitive game of baseball – Charitable Giving Style.
For the 2011 Governor’s Charitable Giving Challenge, agencies are divided into teams based on employee numbers, and each team is assigned a coach. This year’s team coaches are: Team One, Coach Robert Houston, Director of the Department of Correctional Services; Team Two, Coach Monty Fredrickson, Director of Roads; Team Three, Coach John Munn, Director of Banking and Finance; Team Four, Coach Dr. Joann Schaefer, Chief Medical Officer; and Team Five, Coach Brenda Decker, Chief Information Officer.
Together, Team Coaches and Agency Directors are encouraged to facilitate the campaign’s message to their agencies, be creative with their campaigns, and have fun.
Teams are competing for the following five trophies:
Champion of Dollars
Champion of Participants
Champion of New Participants
Champion of New Dollar
Champion of Creativity
The 2011 Charitable Giving Campaign began on August 1 and will run through August 26, 2011.
Again this year, the State of Nebraska’s Employee Discount partner, WeSave, will be sponsoring the “Give and Get Challenge”. Every employee who turns in a signed pledge form is registered to win a $500 cash prize. To be eligible, an employee must be a WeSave member and turn in their signed 2011 Charitable Giving Pledge Forms. Employees are not required to contribute to the 2011 Charitable Giving Campaign in order to be eligible to win. Employees may register to participate in the Nebraska WeSave program by visiting the following website at www.wesave.com.
