E-Verify Process Now Required for New Hires in State Government
On April 8, 2009, the Governor signed into law Legislative Bill 403 (LB403), which set forth the verification of lawful presence in the United States for recipients of public benefits, public contractors, and public employees.
A sincere CONGRATULATIONS goes out to each and every Agency Human Resources and Payroll staff who have been involved in the E-Verify validation process thus far. You deserve a big round of applause!
As of October 1, 2009, newly hired state employees are being verified through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services E-Verify program, as legally able to work in the United States. Agency Human Resources and Payroll staff have done an outstanding job of getting the right information entered into NIS in the very short amount of time allotted for this new process. Your efforts are appreciated.
The NIS Team, as well, has worked very hard to make changes in NIS to make the E-verify process as straightforward as possible. They too deserve a round of applause.
