Where can I get help if I am having problems with NIS?
There are a number of resources available to you if you are having issues with NIS. Your first stop should be the Troubleshooting - Help Desk page. On this page you will find steps to take if you are having problems. You will also find information about how to open a Help Desk ticket.

How do I log in as a Citrix user?
There are specific Work Instructions for signing onto Citrix. To view them click here.

What if NIS will not print my PDF documents?

If you have run a report in NIS, and have tried to print it but the PDF is not appearing, it may be due to a pop-up blocker. When you try to view the PDF, if it does not appear, look along the top portion of your internet browser to see if it is prompting you about a pop-up blocker. If it is, click on the prompt and tell it to allow the pop-up.

It could also be that your automatic prompting for downloads setting is not enabled. To enable them to the Tools menu on Internet Explorer, and select Internet Options. Click on the Security tab, and then click on the Custom level button. Scroll down to Downloads, and select Enable under Automatic prompting for file downloads. Then click OK. For detailed instructions of this with screen shots click here.

What if I changed my Internet Explorer settings and was able to view PDF documents okay, but now I am having problems again?

Some individuals who have had problems viewing PDFs through NIS, and have fixed the problem by changing their Internet Explorer settings, have again experienced problems a short time later. If this has happened to you please check your Internet Explorer settings again (specifically your pop up blocker and promt for downloads).

Various updates to your PC, such as upgrading form Internet Explorer 6.0 to Internet Explorer 7.0, auto updates, or reimaging of your PC can change your Internet Explorer settings and consequently cause problems again viewing PDFs through NIS. This is not something that can be controlled by NIS since it has to do with settings on your specific PC.

For detailed instructions with screen shots about how to change your Internet Explorer settings click here.

What if I enter my User ID and Password, but after I click on the submit button it just comes back to the sign on screen?

Check to see if your internet browser has a third party tool bar (such as Google or Yahoo toolbars). If so, uninstall it and try to sign onto NIS again (check with your local IT individuals to assist you with uninstalling the toolbar).

If you do not have a third party toolbar, or if you removed it and it is still not letting you sign on, close your internet browser, and then reopen it and try to sign on again.

If none of these steps work go to the Troubleshooting - Help Desk page and open a Help Desk ticket.

How should I close NIS?
Always close NIS by clicking on the Sign Out link in the upper right hand corner. Do Not simply click on the X in the upper right hand corner. Doing this will close your browser, but will not sign you out of NIS.

Is NIS compatible with Windows Vista or Office 2007?
Yes. NIS is compatible with Vista and Office 2007.

What should my computer settings be in order to work with NIS?
There are specific settings you computer needs to work properly with NIS. Click here to see what those settings are, and be sure to check with your local IT individuals prior to making any changes to your computer.
