Many end users have expressed concern that purchasing documents they create begin to route through approvals before they are actually ready to be processed. The document is created in the system; however, there is additional information, specifications, etc. that needs to be completed before the document is final and ready for approval processing.

The Pre-requisition (O7) can be used as a tool to create work-in-progress documents. Approval Route for the Pre-requisition can be tied to the end user (Jane Smith, Address Book # 123456, self approve at $1). Once the end user is ready to advance to the next step and route the request for purchase, he/she can generate the O7 into any type of requisition. Once the Requisition is generated from the Pre-requisition, it will route according to the generating end user’s approval route.

If you are interested in using this functionality for the Pre-requisition, the appropriate individual at your agency should initiate a call to the IMS Help Desk with the following information:

[End User], [Address Book Number] requires a self-approving approval route for the Pre-requisition (O7).
